Here’s another good way of discovering what your micro-ISV’s app or site or product should be: go to the future and look back. For example,Which products, used by few today, will be essential in five years? – Leonard’s blog
The idea is simple. Imagine it’s 2011. What tools, technologies, products will be standard? Need to warm up? Make a list of stuff that was not around in 2001:

  1. Skype
  2. Wikis
  3. The entire Web 2.0 thing
  4. Identity theft.
  5. RFIDs (I think)
  6. War on Terror(TM)

Here’s a thought: narrow it down to a specific industry, avocation, or segment of society you’re especially interested in.
